This is an illustration I submitted for the Manchester and Salford Illustrated (#MASI) exhibition, which is to raise funds and awareness for the Manchester based charity, Wood Street Mission.
MASI is a showcase of some of the very best commercial artists and illustrators in the area. The brief was to answer the statement: “What does Manchester Mean to You”.

Earlier this year I created a banner for Manchester Girl Geeks, which featured the city’s skyline. During the design process I also refreshed their brand colour to a shade which the girls affectionately went on to calling: “pinky-purple”. Continue reading

This weekend I attended my first BarCamp. I went along as one of the Girl Geeks in Residence. It was hosted by BBC North in their new Manchester home at Salford Quays. I find it hard to understand how this modern construction by such a tranquil waterfront has come to being labelled the ugliest new building in Britain. I am sure there are far worst examples out there.

I’ve been busy for the last month or so working in the Design and Development department at theEword. theEword is base in Manchester’s Trafford Park and they specialise in Search Engine Optimisation (SEO), Pay Per Click Marketing (PPC) and web designs that bring in results. It’s a busy company and there’s an unlimited supply of coffee to keep the team fueled up!
